About DRC Atelier | Artist Behind The Composed Woman

About the Artist

"I paint women as they truly are: luminous in what is shown, formidable in what is carried."

Women are the carriers of the world: of children, of households, of expectations, of silent endurance. They absorb pressure. They hold families together. They remain. Yet what the world sees is elegance, composure, grace. I am interested in that tension, between what is carried, and what is shown.

My work draws on the tradition of symbolism, where the visible image carries a deeper emotional and psychological meaning.

Working within a contemporary figurative painting, I use watercolour and 23.75 carat gold leaf to create a language that invite contemplation rather than immediate interpretation.

The women I paint are not portraits of specific individuals, but symbolic presences that embody dignity, resilience and quiet strength.

Working primarily in watercolour, I embrace fluidity as a disciplined medium. Gold leaf appears as a deliberate mark of refinement. A restrained language of value.

Based in the Netherlands, my works are held in private collections internationally.
